Week 4 of the first Web 2.0

Well Goodreads is quite cool - I can imagine staying on that website for hours at a time just browsing, and I'd probably use it to look at other peoples reviews to see if it was worth my time to read a particular book. I'd probably suggest this to a few customers, possibly a couple of teens who are really hard out into books.
For fun heres a picture of me and the head chef during our teen reading Manix4 fright night event - spooky stuff!

Twitter - Week 3

well week 3 and feeling much better about this exercise - easy to set up and I supose easy to use - I probably wouldn't use twitter myself though - after a while all the words blur together and I can't sit still for long with stuff like that. Maybe some of our customers would like the manukau libraries one though if they are that way inclined as from the quick look i had at it its got all the current stuff happening on it....

Week 2 - Zamzar

Well, I think in theory it should be easy to use this website - my colleagues seem to have had few problems getting it to work. And they have shown me how to do it and it seems im doing it right. Or maybe im just impatient as my workmate has just informed me it takes a little bit of time to receive the emails. My bad. I kinda thought it would be instantaneous (I think thats the 'I want it now' generation mentality coming out in me. I think I'll have to try it out on the learn net computers when I get a chance because its not working for me yet. Do I think customers will find it simple? Once they've been shown - yes - but then only some. And unless you already have a general understanding what the difference is between a doc. and pdf. is, it could seem a bit difficult. Is it easy for staff to use? Of course, we are all brilliant. Could we use this in the learn.nets and in our workrooms? Sure why not. I do think that I'll use this site again. Would I promote this site to customers? Its hard to say - its taken me maybe fifteen minutes to write this paragraph and still no email - tricky to manage as there are time constraints out on the learn net floor. Oh well will keep you posted if I get it to work.....

So here it is, my library blog and here are the questions that I've been given to ponder upon its creation.
How am I going to use this in my role? Whats working for me? What didn't? What surprised me? what amazed me? How could a library use a blog? What would customers get out of a library blog? Would you promote this to customers?
My answer?
Im not sure yet, this is all so brand new to me!
